I visited with a few friends and we stayed for 2 nights. We started with a river safari thinking we’d only see hippo and crocs, but the number of brightly coloured birds astounded us. Our guide was knowledgeable and patient and we were treated to a lovely sunset.
The following day we went on a 9 hour safari round the game reserve. We saw it all (aside from leopards which only come out in the rain, so that was a good thing!). As a finale about an hour before we were due to leave our guide spotted elusive elephants which no one had seen all day. He turned the vehicle on a sixpence and we went off on hot pursuit. We we weren’t disappointed and saw six of them – eating and frolicking in the lake. We were also “treated” to a tantrum by one of the bulls who wasn’t very happy with us, but our excellent guide for the day, Rama, managed us out of what we thought was a tight spot.
The food is excellent, especially the pumpkin soup, and staff really attentive.
Rooms are fantastic and really give you a taste of the jungle. There are hot water and European loos too!
The photo is the view from breakfast – baboon just walked by!
