Accommodating up to 20 guests, all rooms have spacious en-suite bathrooms and are furnished in African decor that is replicated throughout the lodge. The rooms comprise two four-poster beds and views of the river, which one can enjoy from the comfort of one’s balcony.
Easy to reach by road and air, the lodge is only a 5-hours drive from Dar es Salaam and just 30 minutes drive from the Mtemere airstrip which serves the Southern Circuit.
Nestled in the heart of Selous, Selous Mapumziko Lodge is located in the Savannah grasslands of the Selous eco-system, just 3km from the Mtemere Gate which is the main gate to the Nyerere National Park which was known as Selous game Reserve; the largest game reserve in Africa.
Officially opened in 2017, the lodge is situated on the banks of the great River Rufiji, that flows across the Nyerere National Park. Designed to blend unassumingly into the surrounding environment, the lodge boasts of the stunningly meandering Rufiji River and plains filled with the trademark palm trees that line-up the river banks.
